1939 June 30 When is your vacation? When is mine?

Hi Snooks:

Gee, I was glad to get your letter.  You have been awfully sweet to write as much as you did longhand, for I know what a task it has been for you.  The typed letters now take up just where we left off in the spring of 1936.

So you bought a bathing suit?  And you bought one with a skirt.  Darling, I could spank you, but I’d more like to kiss you for it.  I just gave a lecture to one of the local gals on the subject, stating with some force that such suits, by concealing the fact that pants (or equivalent portion of the suit) were actually there, about drove the average male nuts.  But since you would make any man in the world “slightly” (does not apply to yours truly) passionate, even without such an additional tantalizer, it’s ok.  Honestly, darling I’m about wild to see it.  Don’t get badly sunburned, for it is dangerous.

Haven’t gotten the tie (?) yet.  I’ll bet I love it.

Watta ya mean, you owe a certain party in the east?  You don’t owe me anything, and you couldn’t have borrowed from John as he has been broke since arrival.  Incidentally, I’ll take the interest, and how!!?????!!

Hey!  Who the hell’s vacation is when?  You mention stopping back in Ohio on Labor Day.  When are you coming out.  It looks like yours is the same time as mine the way your write.  Better let me know when your vacation is and what part of it you plan on spending here.  JH wrote me his plans and we may be able to work something in.  By the way, when is mine?  I can’t remember.  Seems that it starts the 28th of August and runs for a week.

Played ball tonight.  Made two hits, one out, and was called out at first on a bunt—and even the first baseman said the decision was sour.  Fielded two balls, one out on a fly, and the other I dropped, but recovered in time to catch the runner at second.  We won, 6-3.  I don’t believe I shall play any more as I get more kick out of the swimming.  Guess I have told you several times that I swam 2 miles (am I proud of same) yesterday in one stretch—55 minutes.

It’s time for bed, darling, and I sure do wish you were here to sort of pep me up.  Must get to work at 7 PX in the morning, and may have to work through the long hours of the night.

Loads of love, Cy.

P.S.  Give Helen my love—what’s left of it (if any) after you take out your share.
