Hi Bootiful:
Honey, you’re so damn pretty. I wish I had you here to look at. I have 4 most attractive walls, paper & all, but no Snooks. For some reason, nothing seems important any more but you.
Note the change of address. I don’t suppose I’ll see any mail for months but please do write so much as you possibly can. Every word helps. The new address is just like the old script:
47th BOMB GP (L)
APO #762, New York, N.Y.
If you should happen to get a different address in a later letter, use the one with the latest date. I may not stay here too long.
Van was very wise about the whole thing. We parted friends. He was most flattering in his praise of my work, but I think I explained to him that our respective ways of working were so different that it would always be a tough job to get along in a business way. We’ll both like him much more from a social standpoint.
I slept through my first air raid alert (some time ago) in fact the only thing that woke me was the long scream of the “all clear” siren. I don’t know whether or not anything was dropped.
This letter is lousy with enclosures which I have picked up over a months time. The brown stuff is not sandpaper but should be filed along with “GOVERNMENT PROPERTY.” You should now have 3 samples in the book. The picture shows yours truly & Lt. McGregor. Gruesome, ain’t it.

Honey, don’t get excited—I’ll let my hair grow on the way home. But as long as I am in a typhus section (carried by lice) I’m going to play it safe. The other gadget is a program Willy & I attended one night. It was quite good & you might send it on to Jack.
Just think—only 9 more months and I’ll be eligible to come home. I’ll probably be one of the “lucky” ones that gets to stay for a couple of years.
Damn it, it’ll be wonderful to be with people who are clean, white & speak American. Also, I’m getting fed up with the low morals of the people we are thrown in contact with. They live like animals. In general, I’m just plain homesick.
Either Hank or Arlie will send you the money this month. I moved before I was able to get them.
That’s all for now. I’m going to try to take a sponge bath.
Your spoiled Brat
P.S. I love you
P.S. Finished on the 14th
